Background & Beginnings

Rob Snow, known professionally as Rob Art Illustration, is a British-born illustrator and graphic designer with a career spanning over 25 years. He studied Media and Design at the university level in England and later made Greece his home, where he works and teaches today. Throughout his career, Snow has applied his creativity across graphic design, illustration, web design, and even academia – he serves as a university lecturer in creative thinking, sharing his passion and expertise with budding artists. This rich background of international experience and teaching has shaped him into an artist who is both professional in practice and approachable in personality, blending English roots with a Mediterranean creative flair.

Artistic Style & Vision

Snow’s artistic style is a distinctive fusion of traditional technique and digital artistry. He begins many works as pencil drawings and then expertly converts them into polished digital illustrations, achieving the best of both worlds. The result is artwork renowned for its intricate detail and whimsical imagination – often quirky and satirical in tone. From vibrant color caricatures to fantastical scenes, his illustrations brim with playful elements and thoughtful concepts. Snow has a particular knack for infusing humor and character into his pieces, reflecting a creative vision that finds the extraordinary in the everyday. His motto, “Think | Design | Create,” encapsulates this mindset of thoughtful yet uninhibited creativity.

Major Works & Collaborations

Over the decades, Rob Snow has built an eclectic portfolio that showcases the breadth of his creativity. He is the creator of the ongoing “Celebrity Sunday” caricature series – a weekly project reimagining famous figures with charm and wit (from Ruth Bader Ginsburg to Frank Zappa). Equally inventive is his “Animal Behavior” collection, which humorously answers the question “What do animals do when humans are not around?” by depicting animals in all manner of human-like mischief. Snow’s work has also reached international audiences through collaborations and publications. Notably, he has been commissioned to illustrate multiple festive cover artworks for the renowned science magazine New Scientist – a recurring honor that speaks to his imaginative concepts and meticulous execution. Beyond editorial projects, Snow has lent his creative touch to diverse endeavors, from designing a mascot for a local craft brewery to creating album cover art for musicians. Each collaboration, whether with publishers, brands, or fellow creatives, showcases his versatility and the approachable artistry he brings to the table.

Awards & Exhibitions

Rob Snow’s talents have earned formal recognition in the illustration and design community. In 2019, he won the EBGE Award for Best Illustration (General Category) – one of Greece’s top honors in graphic design and illustration – for a clever kitchen-themed artwork that parodied Ratatouille. This national award was a meaningful milestone, marking his work as the best in its category and celebrating his unique blend of skill and humor. Snow’s creative achievements have also led to exhibitions of his work. After years of focusing on freelance projects, he returned to the gallery scene with “Lost & Found,” a solo exhibition in Thessaloniki that showcased his artistic journey. He even designed a quirky, self-referential poster for the show, featuring a caricature of himself deep in thought (quite literally sitting on a toilet) to illustrate the messy and humorous process of finding inspiration. The exhibition allowed audiences to experience up close the detail and playfulness that define his illustrations. Through awards and public shows alike, Snow has solidified his reputation as an innovative illustrator who can connect with viewers, whether they’re industry judges or everyday art lovers.

Creative Philosophy

Behind Rob Snow’s whimsical imagery is a down-to-earth philosophy that makes his art truly approachable. He often describes his creative process in playful terms – almost like a recipe – mixing “aptitude,” a generous helping of hard work and sweat, plenty of ideas, and a pinch of “salt of the earth” realism for taste. This lighthearted yet sincere approach reflects Snow’s belief that art should feel alive and authentic. He treats creativity not as a job but as “a lifestyle” – a guiding principle that keeps him continually experimenting, improving, and enjoying the journey. Colleagues and fans know Rob Snow for his friendly, humorous personality as much as for his artistic talent. In every project, he aims to engage and delight a broad audience, proving that professional quality can go hand-in-hand with playful creativity. It’s this blend of professionalism and approachability that defines Rob Snow’s identity as an artist and makes his work resonate with people around the world.
