This was the second commission done for Andreas, on the political caricature front. After the caricature of Trump and his dark and sinister appearance, Andreas wanted a startling view of Putin. I was happy to oblige, and here is the end result.
The brief was very simple. I was supplied with some reference images and asked to create an image of Putin seemingly not hearing what his audience was saying, as he came through the infamous golden doors in the Kremlin.
After some research I found a more dynamic reference image than the one supplied and pencil roughed out the design. Apart from Putin in the required pose and the doors, the only other requirement was to have the crest and symbol, contained within, behind Putin.
The concept was a dynamic big head caricature of Putin, in the setting of the halls of Kremlin, with the required crest in the background. The scope of the picture was left to me to make as elaborate as possible, and the design and flow of the art was also open. So, I found several reference images and patched it all together and came up with the image you see in the rough below.
Everything was rendered out accordingly and the image was well received by client and others.
As part of my typical rendering process I have made a time-lapse rendering process video. You can see it by simply clicking the Subscribe button and join my YouTube channel. I would appreciate the follows, as in the near future I will be doing new tutorials as well as uploading many time-lapse pieces of my works.
