Patreon Level Badge

Putting a brave face on the prize

In 2020 I decided to start a Patreon Page. The idea was to help support and sponsor my caricatures, seen in the Celebrity Sunday series. This was a little before the time the CoVid pandemic hit. I spent a good two months before the launch date (Jan 1st 2020) doing all the video work, the additional artworks to support the page and the obvious setting up.

One of the elements that was developed and created were Level Badges. Each tier of sponsorship has a gift of a Level Badge (See below) attached to it. I wanted to make each one different, so I spent a little time making them unique.

THE CONCEPT

The concept was to make myself into what I was doing; caricatures. I have done this several times before in the past, but I thought this time I would try and make the whole thing a new level up.

I spent some time with my daughter making the necessary photoshoot as well as making the props for the shoot. Once that was done, the basic concept was to have me holding the level number and making it look a little special for the recipient.

THE BRIEF

This was simple, as I was the client! To create seven caricatures of myself all in different poses and holding a level number to then be generated into a digital caricature file. These would be made into visual badges, and prepared (like above) as printable items that could be given to the Patreon as they hit the 12 month marker of support.

The whole process took over 5 weeks to do the seven badges, including the photoshoot. One aspect that I had to research was seven ways to try and render out metallic effects on the numbers. In the photos I used cardboard cut outs, and this was only a placeholder, so I needed to make them literally ‘shine’. They all seemed to turn out OK, and I was really pleased with the likeness I achieved in all seven.

In 2020 Rob Art will be starting a Patreon Page. Please feel free to visit and become a patron of my work.

If interested in having an art piece done you can visit my Fiverr Pro account here, or like any of my caricature or animal art, please visit my online store for details.
